SeaQurrent receives support from the European Regional Development Fund for demonstrating the MOCONNECS

The energy transition is one of the main challenges of society. It requires accelerated deployment of all existing and new sustainable technologies. Especially at sea there is potential for substantial deployment, with respect for and in balance with nature.

Wave and tidal technologies offer great potential and are developing. These technologies, including the TidalKite that SeaQurrent is developing, require an efficient and robust mooring connection system (in short MOCONNECS) that allows wave or tidal technologies to properly and flexibly position themselves in the current or waves, to facilitate flow direction changes or wave condition changes.

This project includes the development of a MOCONNECS scale model. The objective is to demonstrate and improve the operation of the MOCONNECS and the project opens the way for the development of a demonstrator to be tested in an operational environment.
