Local focus, global potential
Local Focus, Global Potential - Admiraliteitsdagen in Dokkum
On 5 September, SeaQurrent took part in Admiraliteitsdagen in Dokkum, in the Wadden area. The festival attracted tens of thousands of visitors over the course of four days and gave us the opportunity to connect with the region at the Waddenfonds Waddenmarkt, where we presented our TidalKite system.
Tested in the Wadden Sea, part of the Natura 2000 network, the TidalKite system demonstrates how clean and predictable energy can be generated around the clock whilst remaining in balance with the natural environment. With the support of Waddenfonds, we are showing that this technology can deliver renewable power right where it matters most, without disturbing the open horizon or unique landscape.
In full deployment, the TidalKite system could generate enough electricity for about 50,000 households in the Wadden area. That is real, local sustainable impact, while also addressing one of today’s most pressing challenges: grid congestion. By providing a steady and predictable power flow, tidal energy complements wind and solar generation and helps keep the wider system balanced.
And whilst our focus in Dokkum was local, the potential is global. Scaling up TidalKite technology could increase the world’s tidal energy capacity to as much as 600 GW, unlocking a new pillar of clean, reliable and predictable renewable power for communities everywhere.
We at SeaQurrent are actively seeking partners to expand with us in a profitable and sustainable way. Investors and supply chain players: if you’re ready to help shape a 24/7 clean energy backbone, let’s start the conversation.
