Structural Engineer
Our purpose is to realise a more sustainable future. We believe that the mix of existing energy solutions for zero-emission is incomplete. So we are developing the TidalKite, a revolutionary underwater kite that captures the steady energy of the tides. To achieve our mission of making tidal kite energy a mainstream solution within a decade, we are looking for a Structural Engineer with a strong affinity with cleantech and who wants to make a sustainable impact.
Your role
You will get a chance to work on challenging problems in a fast-paced environment with direct impact on the product development. Within our collaborative company culture people are proactive, not afraid to move fast and take intellectual risks giving us an opportunity to grow as a team. Your responsibilities will include performing structural calculations, FEA simulations and analysis to support concept development and detailed design work. You will provide input for testing and perform design optimisation based on test results.

Seven years ago, we embarked on a journey to revolutionise clean energy with the development of TidalKite. This scalable, safe, and eco-friendly energy solution has undergone several iterations, and we are now in the process of refining our fourth model, set to be demonstrated near Ameland.
Responsibilities
- Structural calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) simulations for offshore structures
- Creating detailed technical reports on the results of simulations
- Participating in design reviews and making recommendations for improvements
- Collaborating with a team of engineers and providing structural inputs to develop new designs and optimise existing ones
Our successful candidate profile
- Preferably a relevant Master’s degree in engineering (Naval architect, Computational engineering, Structural engineering, Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace) with a minimum of 2 years of experience in Structural calculation and Finite Element Analysis or a similar Bachelor’s degree – with minimum 5 years of experience in FEA Structural analysis
- Good knowledge of FEA with ability to perform Linear structural analysis
- Ability to define the load cases and perform hand calculations and analysis
- Excellent reporting skills and ability to communicate technical information effectively in English
- Proven strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- A person fuelled by curiosity and eager to improve and sharpen skill sets and knowledge
- A getting-things-done mentality
Additional Assets
- Knowledge of offshore industry practices and offshore structural design
- Knowledge of Eurocodes, classification societies and offshore standards
- Auto desk Inventor and Nastran
